Based in Columbus Ohio the VP Technical Services will hold Overall responsibility for the provision of engineering services (“Engineering Services”) to support operation and to maximize aircraft availability and enhance reliability Including:

  • Develop, submit to Chief Inspector for review and forwarding to FAA for approval and periodically update the fleet aircraft maintenance programs.
  • Develop, submit to Chief Inspector for review and forwarding to FAA for approval and periodically update the fleet Minimum Equipment Lists.
  • Evaluate and determining applicability of Airworthiness Directives, Service Bulletins, Service Letters, etc. and provide Planning Department with decisions.
  • Collaborate with VistaJet Engineering to define, apply and manage an effective reliability program to monitor the aircraft, identify issues and develop solutions to improve aircraft reliability and availability.
  • Liaise with MOC, MROs, suppliers and OEMs, resolve complex aircraft defects and repairs.
  • Performs the analysis and publishing of the CASS as per FAA FAR 135.431.

Your Responsibilities

  • Ensure all engineering documents under their competence are filled completely and correctly and kept for the period requested by FAA and internal company guidelines.
  • Responsible for defining and maintaining the aircraft and component configurations to meet airworthiness standards, including defining the minimum modification status of the airframe, powerplants, systems and components.
  • Develop a team of aircraft and system experts to perform the analysis, liaise with OEMs and vendors, and provide troubleshooting and support services for the operation and suppliers.
  • Prepare and manage the periodic internal Aircraft Maintenance Review Board to highlight technical issues, and modifications, present analysis and recommend solutions.
  • Develops the standards, metrics, and procedures to maximize aircraft reliability.
  • Collaborate with Planning to prioritize and schedule the incorporation of Airworthiness Directives, Service Bulletins, Service Letters, etc. identified by Engineering as necessary.
  • In collaboration with Planning, define and maintain the aircraft definition including serialized components, quantities, minimum part number and modification status’, etc. to ensure that the technical records for each aircraft type is clearly defined.

  • Participate in Vendor or OEM material investigative teardowns to help determine root cause and appropriate corrective actions.
  • Project management for major aircraft modifications, STC’s and Field approvals, coordinate support from Vendors/OEM’s and manage external engineering projects through to certification.
  • Participate in internal technical issues investigations and technical root cause.
  • Develop and oversee the annual Engineering budget to support the operation.
  • Maintains effective communication within the department, the operation, suppliers and the VistaGlobal business units.
  • Defines the roles and responsibilities of Engineering Department personnel.
  • Direct and coordinate the activities of personnel engaged in the department.
  • Works with Human Resources to recruit qualified members for the Engineering. Department, to create career paths for each team member and provide the support necessary for each team member to attain the agreed goals.
  • Develops minimum training standards that meet the requirements established by the SVP Continuing Airworthiness and for ensuring department staff are trained to those standards.
  • Ensures Chief Inspector receives Department personnel training records in a timely manner.
  • Prepare and lead the Engineering Department in scheduled compliance audits, ensuring that all findings are investigated/resolved within the timeframe agreed with Compliance Department.
  • Ensure the Engineering Department functions in an effective and efficient manner.

Required Skills, Qualifications, and Experience

  • Proven experience in creating and leading successful teams.
  • Effective communicator within their own team, the operation and other business units.
  • Demonstrated skills in developing/implementing effective engineering strategies to maintain the fleet while improving aircraft reliability and availability at an airline, cargo or charter operator.
  • Practical experience and knowledge addressing aircraft technical issues, working with OEMs and suppliers to understand issues, develop and implement effective solutions.
  • Extensive knowledge of aircraft certification and regulations.
  • Deep understanding of aircraft structures, engines and systems, and the maintenance thereof.
  • Extensive experience in aircraft damage assessment, repairs and return to service processes.
  • Demonstrated leadership in creating a highly effective Engineering Team with an efficient department structure; defining and implementing effective processes; and selecting and mentoring staff to create a highly successful organization.
  • Possess a solid understanding of the following with respect to the certificate holder's operation:
  • Aviation safety standards and safe operating practices.
  • 4 CFR Chapter I (Federal Aviation Regulations).
  • The certificate holder's operations specifications and manuals required by 135.21.
  • All appropriate maintenance and airworthiness requirements including Parts 1, 21, 43, 91, 135 and 145 applicable to the position.
  • Possess a fundamental understanding of aircraft engineering, maintenance and operations.
  • Ideally a post-secondary diploma or degree in aerospace engineering, holder of AI and A&P licenses (or equivalent) or has extensive experience in a similar position.
